Do you have an understanding of disability support within higher education and experience of working with and providing support for disabled students?
We are looking for a part time (17.5 hrs per week) Disability Adviser to join our team in supporting students with a range of disabilities including long term medical conditions, mobility difficulties, sensory difficulties and autism, to achieve their potential at University.
You will manage a varied caseload of students with unique needs and assist the wider team in the delivery, development and enhancement of academic guidance and specialist support.
You will be adept at addressing complex decisions relating to reasonable adjustments in an academic setting and working with the student around these, as well as creating Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for them.
As Disability Adviser you can expect to get involved in:
providing specialist advice to disabled students who require support on their academic programme, before and during the period of study up to graduation
creating ILPs and working with professional services and academic colleagues on reasonable adjustments
liaising with external services and agencies to assist students with the application for allowances or resources that will support their needs
What you will bring to the role:
experience of providing support for and working with disabled students
knowledge of the context of disability support within higher education
excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to deal confidently with a range of people at all levels
