Cathedral Constables have maintained Good Order within Canterbury Cathedral and its walls since the 12th Century and have worked from the Constables Lodge for over three hundred years.
Todays Cathedral Constables work in small teams providing both policing and security for the Cathedral, its staff and visitors 24 hours a day seven days a week.
The Constabulary currently has a vacancy to join one of its teams to undertake day/night shifts. Hours are worked on a 4 on / 4 off, 12-hour shift rota system including weekends and public holidays. Candidates must be a team player and interested in carrying on the traditions of the Constabulary, ideally have Mathematics and English language GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above, and be fit enough to cope with the physical demands of the role.
