Do you have experience of working within a busy office with competing demands and priorities? Are you able to work confidently, professionally and use initiative to resolve problems as and when they arise? If so this 12 month full time role could be ideal.

As Graduate and Researcher College (GRC) Assistant you will provide a range of essential secretarial and administrative support for the GRC Team. The focus of this role will be evenly split to support postgraduate student activities/events and academic researcher development, including assisting with the smooth running of the Researcher Development (academic) training programmes for staff who research. You will be the first point of contact for a wide variety of people at all levels (both internally and externally) and will be expected to gain a good knowledge of the remit of the GRC and the University’s procedures to support postgraduates and staff who research.

As GRC Assistant you will:


  • Assist senior managers by taking responsibility for specific areas of administration within the team

  • Coordinate postgraduate student communication via the weekly email bulletin, social media, GRC blog, and website

  • Provide general clerical and secretarial assistance within the GRC including taking minutes of meetings

  • Act as a first point of contact for the GRC Researcher Development (academic) training programmes



To be successful in the role you will have/be:

  • Proven experience in a similar role in a busy office with competing demands and priorities

  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or proven experience of the use of MS Office Packages (MS Word and MS Excel in particular).

  • Recent experience of working or studying within Higher Education

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to liaise effectively with all contacts, and a professional attitude to work
