Background of department/role
Our apprenticeship scheme is tailored to support, develop, and grow our apprentices to progress in their chosen careers. As part of our commitment to fostering a sense of community for our apprentices, we have an internal apprentice network which meets on a bi-monthly basis, additionally all apprentices are provided with an internal mentor, and where possible will also spend time on placement elsewhere within the University.
We recognise apprenticeships are developmental roles whereby the individual gains further skills as they progress. This is reflected in the apprentice salary which will increase in alignment with the salary grade for the role after 12 months.
Working within the Canterbury Christ Church University’s Graduation Team, the Apprentice Graduation Administrator is a 24-month long apprenticeship during which the apprentice will engage in on and off the job learning and development activities that will lead to a Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship.
The Graduation Team is responsible for the delivery of Canterbury Christ Church University’s graduation events. Graduations and Award Ceremonies celebrate student achievement, and these events make a significant and important contribution to the public image of the University.
The Apprentice Graduation Administrator will support effective delivery of these events, providing administrative support for processes and activities and to enable the team to improve the delivery year on year to enhance the student experience and ensure a high quality, consistent service.
Reporting into the Graduation Manager and supported by the Operational Lead(s) and Coordinator, your responsibilities will include monitoring and responding to routine graduation enquiries from students and staff, whether in person, in writing, email or over the telephone, assisting with day-to-day activities in relation to key events and providing on-the-day support on graduation days.
You will have a minimum of GCSE grade A-C, 4 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent), and be willing to make a commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme. You will possess strong organisational and time management skills, be able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills and have a pro-active and enthusiastic approach. The ability to use Word, Excel and Outlook is desirable but not essential.
