Lecturer in Finance (Accountancy)
Where you’ll work: This role is based at the College’s Dartford campus.
Your hours: Fractional/Part-time hours throughout the academic year / (Sessional)
Your pay: Spine Points 32 (£30,280 full time equivalent) to 37 (£35,104 full time equivalent), rising to a ceiling of Spine Point 40 (£38,369 full time equivalent) with a full teaching qualification.
Working within North Kent College’s Finance curriculum area, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitability qualified, experienced, and passionate individual to join the team as a Lecturer in Finance.
You’ll be required to prepare, teach, and assess at a variety of qualification levels, providing support and guidance to your learners as they progress through their studies. The successful applicant will also posses the skills to work collaboratively with organisations operating within the finance sector, this will support students with work experience, employment on completion of the programme, apprenticeship partnerships and part-time employment.
You’ll have specialist knowledge of the curriculum area, which may be enhanced by any relevant industry / professional experience, as well as a formal qualification that underpins this knowledge. From September 2023 the Finance department will be delivering qualifications across a range of subject levels which presents an exciting opportunity to create a diverse curriculum offer. The education landscape continues to change and in response to this the department will offer level 2 and 3 AAT qualifications, apprenticeship pathways and a new T Level (Technical) qualification, recruitment to this role can be for any of these areas.
We need you to be a team player and an excellent communicator, able to maintain a proactive approach and an eye for detail whilst working to challenging deadlines.
Teaching experience, particularly within Further Education, would be advantageous but isn’t essential. Likewise, although a full teaching qualification (at Level 5 or above) isn’t required at this stage, you would need to secure this within 3 years of appointment.
In return, we’ll give you 42 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time contracts), and you’ll be enrolled onto the Teachers’ Pension Scheme which also includes life assurance. You’ll also benefit from free parking and have access to a range of onsite facilities including a nursery (Dartford and Gravesend campuses), restaurants and coffee shops.
