We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Food and Beverage Supervisor at the renowned Gulbenkian Arts Centre Café on a full time and ongoing basis.

The Gulbenkian Café is all about delicious, locally sourced homemade food, great coffee, and good vibes. The menu showcases what can be done with some of the fantastic local produce found right here in the Garden of England. Options include cooked breakfasts, burgers, and hand rolled pizzas, made with fresh produce from nearby farms, butchers, and cheesemongers.

As a member of Produced in Kent, the Gulbenkian Café is passionate about supporting the diverse range of food and drink businesses in Kent.

As well as light meals, snacks, and sandwiches, there’s also a fully licensed bar, which can be enjoyed by students, staff, and theatregoers alike.

Flexibility is required to cover at our other catering venues and with 12 different outlets on our beautiful campus, you will have access to a diverse experience with a range of development opportunities.

What will you be doing?

You will assist the Food and Beverage Manager in the supervision of casual staff and delivery of an efficient and high-quality catering service, leading on all aspects of stock and cash control, supervising the service of food and drink, and working closely with kitchen colleagues to deliver a first-class dining experience.

You will lead in the induction and operational training of team members, ensuring that staff members are trained in the relevant service/technical operations and ensure compliance with all aspects of health, safety and hygiene standards and adherence to the relevant legislation.

What we are looking for in the right candidate:

Food Hygiene Certificate
Experience of supervising bar and catering staff in a high-volume environment
Excellent customer service skills
Willingness to work flexibly
Health and safety/risk assessment knowledge
Experience of creating rotas and organising work schedules
Knowledge and experience of EPOS and stock management systems

Your new role is part of Commercial Services where we provide student accommodation for over 6,500 students, housekeeping, catering, bar, reception, conference and events services across our Canterbury and Medway campuses.
