Do you want to progress your career in data integration and web service API development? Are you looking to broaden your knowledge and skills?

Here at the University of Kent, we are looking for two Analyst Developers who are keen to engage with new systems, to join our team. In this role you will aid in our transformation of modernising data integrations through service oriented and event driven architecture – implementing data integration middleware and API endpoints throughout our Enterprise systems, such as our Tribal SITS Student Record System.

What can expect from us:

A Friendly, open and collaborative working environment
Support in your development
Generous annual leave
Supportive, flexible home/hybrid working policy
Beautiful campus with a variety of facilities, great staff benefits and a generous pension scheme.
More about this role:

In this role you will work as part of a team to deliver development and support of data integrations and analytical reports, with an aim to improve services and business processes within the team remit. You will be expected to work alongside business analysts, analyst developers, and external vendors, in designing and developing data integrations and analytics reports for complex systems. C# .NET or PHP web service development, Microsoft SQL experience (TSQL), use of Microsoft SSIS (ETL), and awareness of SSRS/PowerBI report development is highly relevant to this role.

Working within the team, you will:

Design, develop, and maintain data integrations and middleware, implement and configure API endpoints within our Enterprise systems using proprietary tools, and implement analytics reports (using our suite of Microsoft SQL Server products)
Develop test plans and document deliverables, sharing knowledge within team, and implementing data governance practices
Monitor services to ensure reliability and quality. Investigate issues as they arise, either responding to support tickets or through own initiative
Advise and enable best practice within team and feed into continuous improvement (seeking out new technologies to improve upon current data exchange and reporting approaches).
About the team:

The Data Integration team sits within the Enterprise Systems section of Information Services, responsible for integrating systems and services with secure, appropriate, and timely data. Across many different business areas the team designs, develops, and manages tools to share and surface data, enabling effective data use and visibility.

To be able to undertake this role you will have:

Good knowledge and experience of data exchange between systems
Experience working with relational databases (preferably MSSQL), constructing queries and managing processes
Knowledge of software development methodologies, practices and coding standards including use of source code repositories and versioning tools
Knowledge and proven experience of data integration and web service design, development, and testing
Experience of investigating and resolving errors, bugs and other technical issues within large and complex applications, reporting/escalating as relevant.
