SECTION: Emergency Planning and Resilience
SALARY: Grade 9 (£30,400 - £32,978 per annum)
Pride in our Borough: A Borough that works for everyone
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated person to join our Emergency Planning and Resilience Team on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week. There is scope for hybrid working under the council’s agile working arrangements.
We require someone with experience of working successfully with a range of stake holders and can support the council in its duty to prepare for, respond to emergencies and build resilience.
As Resilience Officer, you will be self- motivated and can work with a high degree of autonomy. This role involves close liaison with a range of organisations including local authorities, parishes, voluntary organisations, and emergency services.
You will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage some degree of pressure. On occasion, the Emergency Planning and Resilience Team must respond immediately outside of working hours to the demands of an incident.
You will:
•Work with partners in the Kent Resilience Forum to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.
•Work with internal and external stake holders to ensure incident response plans, training and exercises are aligned with the council’s objectives and duty within the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
•Ensure the resilience of the council’s services by supporting the maintenance of a business continuity management system to protect the continued provision of critical services to residents.
The successful candidate will be driven and able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written). You will deputise for the Emergency Planning and Resilience Manager and be required to advise and support senior officers of the council in their response to emergency incidents.
While previous experience in emergency planning and business continuity is not essential, you will need to have the key skills and knowledge required to ensure delivery of the service or the willingness and aptitude to learn and grow in the role.
The Council considers this to be a customer focused role and the ability to converse at ease with customers and stake holders adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.
Maidstone Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all employee and volunteers to share this commitment.
Working for Maidstone, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience within an organisation that prides itself on supporting its staff.
