Purchasing Assistant
Medway
£22k - £25K DOE
Mon - Fri (Hybrid working)
Our client, an extremely successful company based in the Medway area are looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join them on a full time and permanent basis.
This position sits within a specialist Purchasing function, so any exposure to Supply Chain previously would be a huge advantage!
The ideal candidate will be highly customer focussed, organised, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and differing timescales. Ideally, you will also be familiar with customs processes and inbound freight terms ensuring the company comply with relevant HMRC regulations.
Duties for this position include:
* Administration based position, with daily use of Excel to an intermediate - advanced level
* Managing freight/customs/commodity codes and purchasing orders
* Reviewing invoices for freight and approving rates, passing all discrepancies to freight suppliers and line manager for approval
* Accurate use of in-house systems, overseeing a range of selected suppliers ensuring Buyers are fully appraised of any risks and delays so communication and corrective actions can be undertaken
* Managing all email enquiries regarding product due dates and chasing where relevant, always keeping the customer up to date on all progression
* Spotting and resolving anomalies
* Overseeing all returns on behalf of Buyers, tracking all transactions from initial request to the final credit
* Supporting the team with all administrative assistance
* Any other ad-hoc or project based duties as required
The successful candidate will have/be:
* Strong, solid administration experience preferably within Purchasing
* A consistent CV demonstrating stability
* A meticulous attention to detail
* A natural problem solver
* Innovative, commercially aware and process driven
* An intermediate - advanced Excel user
* Numerate, literate
* A good academic record - NVQ, degree in Purchasing/ Procurement desired
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
