Background

Within the Directorate of Marketing and Communications, Admissions delivers a high-quality service to enquirers, applicants, and their advisers.

Admissions is responsible for:

Ensuring that compliance with statutory regulations for UKVI purposes and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) are met.
Operating fair, transparent and responsive admissions and selection policies to deliver an excellent applicant experience.
Managing admissions processes to achieve agreed student number recruitment
Providing professional leadership and advice on all admissions activities including to those parts of the University that have delegated responsibility in these areas.
Planning and managing confirmation and clearing.


The Role

The Compliance Officer supports the University to maintain compliance with UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) rules and regulations and the requirements for Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Our officers work within the Compliance team, which sits within the wider Admissions team. The role requires collaborative team working with colleagues in Admissions and across the wider university, as well as meeting and supporting our international student population on campus. This is a dynamic and diverse role that offers the opportunity to become proficient in many areas of compliance.

Processing Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
Responding to applicant and student enquiries via email, phone, and in-person
Home Office reporting on placements, Graduate Route visas, changes in student circumstances and others as required
Executing and supporting attendance and engagement activities, including meeting students face-to-face on campus
Processing, supporting and reporting on DBS checks
Participating in on-campus registration events (September, January, and as required)

The Person

You will have experience in international admissions and/or compliance work in higher education, and a dedication to good customer service. Friendly, inclusive, and culturally sensitive, you will be adept at working with students and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. You’ll manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines and under pressure, dealing with sensitive, confidential information and situations. With an adaptable and flexible outlook, you’ll be able to meet core business requirements as well as working autonomously within a team.

How will you work?

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible. Although this is hybrid role, there are periods during the year where you will be required to work on campus five days a week to meet to requirements of the job as student-facing.

Attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the service being delivered and to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that the majority of your working time will be spent on campus.
