Working in the public sector you will be required to act as Corporate Health and Safety Officer ensuring compliance and the enforcement of Health and Safety legislation.

Duties:

* To develop, implement and review H&S policies and procedures
* To audit projects and building works to ensure compliance
* To work with department managers to develop and review policy documents and develop Safe Operating Procedures
* To carry out H&S inspections and take any necessary enforcement action
* Conduct random spot inspections for PPE compliance and operating procedures
* To investigate accidents and near misses
* To provide H&S training to employees
* To carry out fire risk assessments, fire drills and terrorism evacuation procedures

Criteria:

* A relevant Environmental Health related qualification
* Demonstrable knowledge, experience and expertise in relation to relevant H&S legislation and best practise.
* Relevant experience in H&S Enforcement and Corporate H&S.
* Demonstrable technical and specialist knowledge.

* Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to adapt and proactively organise and prioritise work effectively

This is a 6-month temp role to start asap offering 37 hours per week. There could possibly be the option of a permanent contract in the future.
