Glaucoma UK is the charity for people with glaucoma. Our vision is to end preventable glaucoma sight loss. We want everyone with glaucoma to be able to live well with the condition.

It couldn’t be a more exciting time to join our team. We have just developed a new Theory of Change and we are now embarking on a period of growth. With an estimated 700,000 people in the UK living with glaucoma – but only half of them knowing it – we want, and need, to do more. We want to fund more research, raise more awareness and help more people. And that is where you can make a real difference.

There is no cure for glaucoma. Sight loss from the disease cannot be reversed. Eye drop treatments can be painful and awkward and can cause more distress than the disease itself. There are many different treatment options and making decisions can be confusing and difficult. By providing a range of accessible and effective support services, we want to play our part in helping people to live and stay well with glaucoma.

As Support Services Administrator you will be:

• reporting to the Head of Support Services, and working with all members of the team, and colleagues in other teams.
• providing general administration across the team
• providing some phone and administrative cover to other teams if needed
• responsible for providing an outstanding service to our members and supporters
• solving problems that may arise, flagging to other colleagues when needed and signposting to other services

Position: Support Services Administrator

Responsible to: Head of Support Services

Location: At least two days a week in our office in Ashford Kent (either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday) with working from home at other times by agreement

Hours: part-time 21 hours per week

Salary: £13,356 pro rata (£22,260 Full-Time Equivalent)

Annual leave and benefits
• 25 days holiday per annum, plus Bank Holidays
• Benenden Healthcare cover
• 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
• Up to 5% contributory pension
• Enhanced maternity & paternity pay
• Funded support for learning and development

How to apply: please email your CV and a covering letter to Richenda at r.kew@glaucoma.uk by 9am on Friday 15 March.

Your cover letter must explain how you meet the criteria in the person specification above. We would like you to draw on your past experience to demonstrate how you bring the skills or experience listed. These experiences don’t have to be from a previous job, for example they could be from your education, any volunteering you have done, or your personal life. Please note that applications without a covering letter will not be considered.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 19 March in our office in Ashford. We will be in touch with shortlisted applicants by 5pm on Friday 15 March.

• sending out mailings associated with support services activity to members and supporters, for example in relation to surveys, consultations and events
• assisting with managing volunteers for Glaucoma UK, for example sharing resources, act as a point of contact for volunteers, triaging queries and referring onto the right team
• producing reports via platforms used by support services, as required, to help us evaluate our services

This job is for you if you have:
