Established in 1991, FloPlast Ltd is an ever growing market leader in the manufacture and supply of plastic building and plumbing systems to the UK Construction Sector. We specialise in PVC Roofline, Rainwater, Soil & Waste, Underground Drainage and Hot & Cold Plumbing Systems which we manufacture ourselves onsite. We supply directly to Builders and Plumbers Merchants including B&Q, Screwfix, Selco and Travis Perkins. We have over 300 employees and pride ourselves in offering career progression and longevity within the business.
Due to internal restructure we are recruiting for Team Leaders / Supervisors within our manufacturing plant. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 40 hours per week (8 hours a day including a paid 30 minute break). Shift patterns are rotating days / evenings - 7am-3pm / 3pm-11pm or fixed nights of 11pm-7am.
Applicants must have previous experience of managing a team within a manufacturing environment.
Salary is between £32,000 - £44,000 dependant on experience and shift pattern, as the fixed night shift is paid at an enhanced rate.
As Team Leader / Supervisor you will be responsible for a team of approximately 20, overseeing all activities in your department on your shift to drive optimum manufacturing cost through product quality, high productivity and efficiency. You will have a ‘hands on’ approach and be a role model leader with a strong focus on people management; including the motivation and structured development of the team through performance review to ensure delivery of objectives through team working. You will have excellent communication skills and help develop a culture of continuous improvement that is based on an engaged, well-trained and motivated workforce with low levels of absenteeism.
Key roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead a team of Operators and Maintenance Engineers to achieve output at levels required to maintain stock at agreed levels of
availability at agreed quality standards, ensuring the most efficient and effective use of labour.
• Drive performance to meet daily/weekly production targets/KPIs
• Create an environment that drives high performance through effective performance management and development planning and training.
• Manage the shift team, appraisals, disciplinaries, absence and performance.
• Train and develop new and existing members of staff
• Provide end of shift handovers, producing reports on efficiency, scrap & output
• Work closely with maintenance engineers on machine availability, PPM’s and downtime
• Be the point of contact for any accident investigations/incidents.
• Develop & review risk assessments & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the department.
• Support and be involved with relevant project activities and capital expenditure.
• Develop and implement continuous improvement programmes with respect to the elimination of waste and improving process efficiency
and productivity.
Experience/Skills required:
• Strong leader and motivator of people, with ability to set high standards of performance, influence others to maintain set expectation and
to mentor and equip future leaders.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques.
• Excellent communicator and team builder with a track record of delivering improvement through others.
• Able to analyse data and act on results.
• IT Literate.
