We are looking for an experienced Welfare Benefits Advisor on a temporary basis to provide first line support, information and guidance to individual residents to help them maximise their incomes, manage debts, budget, access online services and help sustain tenancies.
Full time 37 hours per week Mon-Fri
Hybrid – 2 days per week office based.
Who we are looking for
•Current knowledge of Welfare Benefits, tenancy sustainment and social housing
•Proven knowledge of issues relating to debt and financial inclusion
•Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Teams, Sharepoint, Excel, Word)
•Confident in learning and using house systems.
•Excellent customer service
•Work flexibly and manage the demands of a busy office
Your responsibilities
•Provide support, information and advice to individual residents to enable them to maximise their incomes, manage debts, budget, access on-line services and help sustain tenancies.
•Manage a caseload of clients referred for welfare benefits advice and support, ensuring high standards of support planning, accurate performance reporting, and positive outcomes.
•Refer and support residents to access residents to further services/ external agencies and for external grants and hardship funding streams as required to meet their needs.
•Support and promote ways for residents to independently access welfare support.
•Work in partnership with external agencies, local authorities, housing associations, community-based organisations and others, and have a general awareness of the services they offer to enhance the implementation and delivery of support for residents.
•Collaborate with colleagues across the Communities Team to ensure referrals to internal services are timely and accurate and support residents who may have a range of needs.
•Collaborate with colleagues across the Income and Housing Teams to support early interventions and support residents to take responsibility for managing their rent accounts.
•Provide regular reports and case studies.
•Undertake administrative duties relating to both residents and projects as required.
•Safeguarding: To follow all steps outlined in individual and environmental risk assessments as appropriate and follow the Local Authority Adult and Children Safeguarding procedure in conjunction with policies and procedures.
