A leading manufacturing in East Kent is currently looking to appoint a permanent Purchasing & Materials Management specialist for their business.
The Purchasing & Materials Management role will be responsible for driving transformational change through the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools within the factory and will lead efforts to drive continuous improvement and the reduction of waste in all material processes.
Paying £55,000 to £65,000/annum depending on your level of experience and offering an attractive yearly bonus, private medical, 25 days plus bank holidays and a holiday purchase scheme.
Managing a team of buyers, the role will see you collaborating with suppliers, global procurement, operations, factory personnel, engineering, finance, and the Senior Management Team.
You will be a confident leader who will be instrumental in delivering projects in time and on budget whilst driving rapid improvement events that will focus on the materials management processes.
Experience and Skills Required:
1 Use of SAP or an equivalent ERP system - owning, updating and planning the strategy for the planning parameters, stock holding levels, re-order points etc
2 Direct Supplier contact - expediting orders, dealing with delays, issues directly with suppliers
3 Management of buyers - must have experience working with a team of buyers
4 Mid-high volume manufacturing experience - preferably with mechanical engineering, machining, welding, assembly
5 Inventory management - managing inventory turns and value
6 Experience of managing 50-100 suppliers
7 To have worked with suppliers overseas
8 Preferably managing more than 1,000 SKUs with a lot of variety.
9 Must have good understanding of manufacturing material flow in a plan
10 Knowledge of personal computer applications required (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint)
