My client is an East London based school, part of a larger multi academy trust, now looking to recruit a School Business Manager.
This is a significant post within the school, which carries with it responsibility for the non teaching side of the school, managing the day to day finance, administration, premises and HR requirements. Supported by a central team within the Trust and with the on site assistance of a small support team, you`ll work closely with the Headteacher to ensure the best use of resources and ensure the school obligations are met.
Responsibilities will include:
- Oversee the financial management of the school, including budget planning, monitoring, and reporting.
- Manage all aspects of the school`s administrative and support functions, ensuring smooth operations on a day-to-day basis.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
- Lead and manage a team of administrative staff, providing guidance and support as required.
- Develop and implement efficient administrative systems and processes to enhance the effectiveness of the school`s operations.
- Work closely with the leadership team to contribute to the strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and local authorities, to ensure effective procurement and contract management.
- Oversee the management of the school`s premises and facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for students and staff.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in education finance and management, and apply best practices to enhance the school`s performance.
Applications are sought from individuals who have previous experience working within a similar school business manager role, that would appreciate the support of a central team in a wider Trust, whilst still retaining day to day autonomy. School Finance Managers, who might be looking for a rounded SBM role, or candidates who have strong financial experience from a local authority or public sector background, that would be interested in moving into the education sector, are welcomed to apply.
