Lecturer in Sports
Where you’ll work: This role is based at the College’s Dartford campus.
Your hours: 22.2 hours per week (Monday to Friday), 52 weeks per annum.
Your pay: Spine Points 32 (£30,280 full time equivalent) to 37 (£35,104 full time equivalent), rising to a ceiling of Spine Point 40 (£38,369 full time equivalent) with a full teaching qualification.
We are looking for someone who has experience in working specifically in the fitness industry and has a level 2 Gym Instructor qualification and preferably a Level 3 Personal Training Qualification. The role is working with learners who are currently completing their Level 2 and Level 3 fitness qualifications over the academic year alongside their academic qualification. The role will require the applicant to deliver both practical and theoretical elements of the fitness qualifications, assess and program manage a tutor group and teach and assess across a range of NCFE Sport Units for Sport learners. Likewise, although a full teaching qualification (at Level 5 or above) isn’t required at this stage, you would need to secure this within 3 years of appointment.
The sports facilities available at NKC Dartford are a multipurpose double sports hall, strength and conditioning gym and an industry specific gym. The applicant will be expected to teach across all of these areas and be comfortable to deliver theory lessons as well as practical.
We also have a fully functioning massage clinic with an evening session available to staff to be able to get free sports massages. The gym facilities are available to staff to use after the college day for free.
In return, we’ll give you 42 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time contracts), and you’ll be enrolled onto the Teachers’ Pension Scheme which also includes life assurance. You’ll also benefit from free parking and have access to a range of onsite facilities including a nursery (Dartford and Gravesend campuses), restaurants and coffee shops.
