Financial Accountant | Near Tonbridge | upto £40k
Cobb & Jones Recruitment are working in partnership with a successful FMCG business in West Kent who are looking for an all-round accountant to join them as a Financial Accountant. This role is a full-time permanent opportunity working Monday to Friday with Hybrid opportunities.
The main purpose of the role will be supporting accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and processes, internal/external reporting requirements and to assist with the completion of the year-end statutory accounts.
Main responsibilities
• Assist with the end of month reviews and signoff within Group deadlines
• Assist in all balance sheet reconciliations are completed each month
• Responsibility for the company cash book and weekly bank reconciliations
• Responsibility for the company fixed asset register and tax tracker
• Responsibility and timely submission of all statutory returns for various authorities, including HMRC Corp Tax, Payroll, VAT & fiscal and customs declarations
• Responsibility for ensuring payroll for all sites are processed on time in collaboration with 3rd party providers and other team members, including its reconciliation, journal posting and payments
• Responsibility for maintaining the HR/Payroll online portal ensuring it is accurate and kept up-to-date for review with senior management
• Primary contact with the 3rd party payroll provider and pension providers to ensure maintenance of the monthly pensions schedule and Auto Enrolment returns are completed in a timely and accurate manner
• Responsibility for daily banking, printing off customer receipts for all accounts and passing to Credit Control for matching and allocation
• Responsibility for updating the daily bank balance tracker and submission to the parent company in on a weekly basis
• Assist with processing month end journals, including payroll, depreciation, overheads, accruals and prepayments
• Assist with the internal/external stakeholders ad-hoc requests, systems and accounts related queries
• Assist with the completion of year end audit deliverables
• Assist in developing and maintaining robust internal controls to eliminate risk to the company
• Supervising the assistant accountant to ensure tasks are carried out to the expected standard and deadlines are met
• Assist with projects
What you will need
• Experience in an all round Accountant position with particular skills in general ledger, Tax and VAT
• MS Excel at an advanced level
• Studier, part qualified in finance accreditation (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, CA) or extensive work experience
• Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to analyse complex data in order to identify errors or anomalies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with each category of stakeholder
