Manual Machinist & Fitter
Medway

Our client are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Machinist & Fitter to join their dynamic team. This is a great opportunity to join a leading global automotive supplier specialising in the supply of automotive supplier specialising in innovative technologies to improve the efficiency, performance, and sustainability of vehicles.

Duties include:
• Setting up and operating a variety of manual machining equipment, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
• Perform precision machining operations to fabricate, modify, or repair parts for automotive applications.
• Utilise precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality of machined components.
• Assemble and fit machined parts to engineering specifications.
• Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications and make adjustments as necessary.
• Maintain machinery and equipment by performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organised work environment.
• Any other duties required.

The successful candidate will have / be:
• Educated to GCSE level with pass grades in core subjects.
• Proven experience as a manual machinist, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in setting up and operating manual machining equipment.
• Strong knowledge of machining techniques and practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges.
• Familiarity with various cutting tools, fixtures, and work holding devices.
• Good understanding of metal properties and machining parameters.
• Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
