Housekeeping Manager

Hours 30 hours a week

Bore Place is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and capable Housekeeping Manager to manage our fantastic team of housekeepers, look after our guests during their stay, oversee events (including weddings) and ensure exemplary cleanliness across all our properties. The ideal candidate will take pride in ensuring high standards, have excellent organisation and communication skills, and work well with people, ensuring a happy team and satisfied visitors. This role sits at the heart of all we do at Bore Place and offers an amazing opportunity to help shape our future.

Bore Place is a non-profit organisation: home to an organic dairy farm, organic market garden, food producers, venue and holiday cottages and educational centre. Our vision is, “To create a world where people and nature work together to regenerate the planet and ourselves”. Your role will mostly be working with our events and accommodation offer but we are a small team, and you will get the chance to be involved in all aspects of what we do. Shared values and a commitment to our wider work would be advantageous.

You will manage the team’s rotas and a degree of flexibility will be required in when you work. You would be required to work one day at the weekends, and occasionally during the evening.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Managing a team of housekeepers to ensure that all properties are cleaned to a high standard for new arrivals and existing guests with a focus on customer care and cleanliness to include:

o housekeeping, cleaning and laundry

o event set up and support, food and drinks service (meals and refreshments) and visitor services

o kitchen and catering support

o site cleanliness

o overseeing team training and ensuring good Health and Safety practices

o rota management and team leader

· Provide the lead host role at Bore Place for all guests staying, or attending an event, at Bore Place:

o meet and greet all staying visitors on arrival and departure (where appropriate), and act as lead host during their stay

o Coordinate and deliver a 24/7 exceptional service

· Support weddings and large events

o Event set-up, management and delivery of events and post-event clear up.

This role is a busy role that requires a good level of personal fitness, the ability to multi-task and excellent organisation skills.

There is the opportunity for paid on-call responsibilities for local candidates. Proximity to Bore Place would therefore be advantageous but isn’t a requirement.

To the right candidates we offer an excellent working environment, free parking, a pension, subsidised veg box during the summer, life insurance, discounted public courses, an employee assistance programme and 38 days a year holiday (including bank holidays, pro-rata).

Bore Place is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves and succeed on merit. We strive to ensure that opportunities to work and develop at Bore Place are open to all. We treat all job applications equally, regardless of age, disability, gender identity or gender expression, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or any other equality characteristic.

The safety and welfare of children and other vulnerable people onsite is extremely important to us and is why we pride ourselves on our Safeguarding procedures. All positions at Bore Place are subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check at Basic Level. Please notify us of any disability at the earliest opportunity should you wish us to make any special arrangements for the application process or, if successful, for the role. We would be more than happy to make reasonable adjustments where appropriate.

It is a requirement that any successful applicant has the right to work in the UK and can provide evidence of this. This would be an express term and condition of your employment with us.
