The University of Kent Academies Trust is seeking to recruit a proactive Speech and Language Therapist to work at Brompton Academy. The post is suitable for an experienced Practitioner competency. There will be on-site supervision with the Lead Speech and Language Therapist.

The role involves working within our current Inclusion team to deliver a specialist integrated speech, language and communication service to secondary-aged SEND students. The SLT would work jointly with and be supported by the Lead SLT/Therapy Lead as part of this role, which is a flexible, part-time role for 3 days per week, term time only. The salary for this role is equivalent to the upper end of NHS Band 6 and the lower end of Band 7.

The role of the SLT is vital for a significant number of our students, particularly for those students with EHCPs and/or underlying SLCN in mainstream and in our specialist provision, the Eliot Centre, which is based at Brompton Academy. Working with the Therapy Lead, you will have the opportunity to develop special areas of interest in SLCN and will be supported to access suitable CPD to develop your role.

We are looking for a vibrant and energetic individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of our students and who will engage with working as part of a highly committed and effective team. You will need to be confident, resilient, approachable and a good communicator as you will be required to liaise with students, staff, parents/carers and outside agencies. The successful candidate will be expected to work with students from upper Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5 and to support and provide training to empower our staff to integrate specialist interventions and techniques into the classroom.

The successful applicant will be coming to a multi-academy trust-wide supportive learning environment, characterised by open management, and in the knowledge that they will enjoy the full support and care of the pragmatic (and down-to-earth) leadership team. We have a dynamic, innovative team of professional staff who want to make a difference to the lives, aspirations and opportunities of our young people. We would encourage applicants to visit the UKAT website to view the many employee benefits on offer.

How to Apply

Your application should be made after reading the job description and person specification, and you will use the application to tell us how your current skills and experience fit the requirements and why you think you would be suited to this role.

We are keen to attract top talent to our inclusive Trust, and, therefore, we welcome applications from all people across the community spectrum regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, sexual orientation, disability, gender reassignment or age, and a newly qualified practitioner would be considered for the role if they were seen to be the right candidate.

For further information, to download our application form or to send us your CV, please visit our website via the Apply button.

Applications will be considered upon receipt.

The University of Kent Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
