Background
Applications are invited for a Senior Lecturer in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) to lead our postgraduate and professional courses. If you are an experienced Specialist Community Public Health Nursing academic from the field of Health Visiting or School Nursing and are passionate about enhancing the quality of Specialist Community Public Health Nursing education and research, we would like to hear from you.
You will join an ambitious academic team with shared research and professional interests, Public Health entrepreneurship, improvement and implementation within the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting and School Nursing) setting. As an experienced Senior Lecturer, you will use your previous academic and clinical experience, as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) in School Nursing or Health Visiting, to deliver specialist and generalist knowledge and skills to students at all HE levels. You will employ a range of learning and teaching methods, sensitive to different cultures and students’ ways of learning. Using contemporary evidence, you will prepare students for future careers in public health nursing. Your level of appointment will be in line with your previous experience and the University will offer you career development opportunities.
You also work within an established and friendly group of academic and professional staff and will contribute to enhancing the work and the reputation of the School as a whole, collaborating inter-professionally and effectively with colleagues in the Faculty, University and externally as appropriate. You will undertake scholarly activity, maintain or work towards being research active and contribute to the School’s enterprise and innovation within the UK and internationally. The nature of this contribution will vary according to your experience and your direction of work will be required to fit with the School’s strategic plans.
You will use your specialist knowledge of best practice in your profession and education methods, combined with excellent communication skills to support students in their learning to become safe, autonomous, competent public health professionals. You will work closely with all stakeholders to co-produce teaching materials to create an inclusive environment for students. You will continue your own personal and professional development as an academic using the evidence base and research to inform teaching.
