Our local authority client is looking for an IT Procurement Category Officer to provide a professional procurement services for the strategic procurement of a range of goods, services and works, which meet the needs of the Council and progressively achieve cost savings and other targeted benefits.



You will be responsible for:

* Working closely with stakeholders to control expenditure through the adoption of a Category Management approach to procurement
* Delivering category specific support to the Category Manager in meeting the objectives and targets identified in the Category Plan
* Using the Council's category management processes and procedures
* Representing the Council in the supply market and through knowledge gained there, directly influence all third party expenditure in the allocated categories by creatively planning and implementing procurement projects that meet customer needs
* Maximising the use of supply contracts that have been let by actively marketing them within the Council
* Ensuring all sourcing and contract management activity is undertaken in accordance with the Council's Contract Standing Orders and UK & EU procurement legislation

To be considered for the role, candidates should be CIPS qualified or equivalent and have Local Authority experience working on equivalent strategic procurement/sourcing projects.
