Do you have experience of working within a careers, employability and/or placement context? Are you looking for a diverse role that will help shape how the University develops students and graduates for the world of work?
This is a key, busy position which offers significant free rein in developing and delivering projects and the opportunity to really get stuck in and make a difference. You will lead an engaged and passionate team and be involved in building relationships across the University and with employers and external partners. The flagship and award winning Employability Festival and Careers Fair, which attracts thousands of students and hundreds of external partners each year, will be a major focus and will bring together your experience and knowledge of employability with your skills in planning, organising and delivering to deadlines.
As Placement Development and Employability Manager you will:
- support the University in its mission to provide students with the best possible preparation for their future lives
- lead on the expansion of placements and experiences of work
- expand on the range of opportunities for students to develop their employability skills and attributes
- line manage the committed employability team
To be successful in this role you will need:
- a good first degree or equivalent
- experience of working in a careers, employability or placement context
- knowledge of, and skills in, brokering networks with businesses and other organisations
- experience of line management
- excellent motivational, organisational and communications skills
The award winning Careers and Employability Service (CES) at the University of Kent offers a range of information, advice and guidance services free-of-charge to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University. These services encompass many aspects of career development and planning and provide the opportunity for students to realise their vocational potential. Facilities are available to encourage students to analyse their values, interests, skills and abilities, supplemented by information about employment opportunities and further study, enabling them to make rational career decisions.
We particularly welcome applications from black and ethnic minority candidates as they are under-represented at this level in this area.
