The Role
We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join our well-established Estates and Facilities Directorate at Canterbury Christ Church University.
You will work as part of a team in the food and beverage outlets across the Canterbury Campus providing catering and hospitality services. The post of General Assistant will involve working in any of the Catering Outlets that include food courts, coffee shops, bars, hospitality areas, banquets, drink receptions.
Working hours:
The successful candidates will work to an agreed roster of 25 hours per week 5hrs per day, working any 5 out of 7 days and will be contracted to work their 25 hours each week however we are looking for staff with a flexible approach to working as there will be times when the department may need them to work additional hours at times, these hours will then be taken back at an agreed time throughout the year.
The shifts below will give you an idea of what we will require based on the business needs:
07.30 am start
08.00am start
10:00am start
12:00pm start
17:00/18:00/19:00 finish times
The Person
We are searching for a highly motivated individual with a flexible approach and be able to meet the expectations of providing a consistent and quality service to all students, staff and external visitors. The successful candidates will work to an agreed weekly hour on an they will be provided with full on the job training and supported by catering team leaders in their place of work.
The ideal candidate will be:
Customer focused
Delivering a first-class service to students, staff and external clients.
Working with the Team Leader in any outlet, assisting with Hospitality, Events and formal dinners.
Willingness to learn new skills and develop as an individual
Working with the Team Leaders to maximise student experience
Team player to be consistently working with colleagues to ensure the best service is offered
Be able to operate point of sale system for card payments
