The position of Kitchen Assistant is responsible to the head Chef or Duty Chef.
No experience is required but you must be efficient and organised.
Main Tasks and Duties
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness in accordance with Food Safety Regulations using correct chemicals on the correct surfaces/appliances.
• Ensure any deliveries are stored properly.
• Food prep as instructed by the Duty Chef.
• Ensure stores, refrigeration and walk in freezer are tidy.
• Washing up of all the pots and pans and other equipment used in the kitchen.
• Ensuring the rubbish area is kept neat, clean and tidy.
• Ensure all bins are emptied at the end of the shift.
• Removal of all rubbish to the external rubbish area.
• Ensuring at the end of shift that everything is cleaned, and the floor is swept and mopped ready for the next catering service.
Hygiene, Health and Safety
• Pay attention to all aspects of Health and Safety within the operation. Report any matters of
concern to the Domestic Bursar.
• Observe all Health & Safety regulations as set out by the School in accordance with its
statutory obligations.
General
• Attend training courses as required to meet the requirements of the post.
• Any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Domestic Bursar.
