Teacher of Design and Technology
Required from April 17th to May 26th 2023
We have an excellent opportunity for a creative and committed Teacher of Design and Technology (D&T) to work in Ashford School’s Creative and Performing Arts faculty from April to May 2023.
With a degree in a relevant subject and a particular focus on Product Design, the Teacher of D&T will use their passion to inspire students to be innovative and imaginative in their application to the subject.
The successful candidate will teach the subject from Year 7 upwards. Lessons take place in dedicated D&T workshops and a Design and Technology Technician is available to give assistance with apparatus set-up for lessons.
The successful candidate must be familiar with computer technology as a tool for learning, teaching and administration. Competency in the use of 2D TechSoft Design and or AutoCAD Inventor is preferable.
All teaching rooms are equipped with permanent internet access and interactive whiteboards; all students in KS3 and KS4 have access to a device in their lessons with which to access a variety of learning platforms.
In addition, the successful candidate should be capable of guiding students of all abilities and also those whose first language is not English. Personal engagement is essential, and responding to the needs of the individual is at the heart of the faculty’s ethos.
Teachers at Ashford enjoy a welcoming, comfortable and well-resourced environment. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to cover a tutor group during the period of employment, as well as contribute to co-curricular activities related to Design and Technology.
Please note that this role is part-time at approximately 0.7 of a full-time timetable.
Salary by negotiation and dependent on skills, attributes and qualifications of the successful candidate.
