Fixed term contract until November 2023
Background of department/role
This post is within the Department of Enterprise and Engagement that provides leadership to support the achievement of the University’s strategic goals and KPIs in relation to enterprise, knowledge exchange and income diversification.
Reporting to the Knowledge Exchange and Engagement Manager, the Marketing and Comms Officer will contribute to the delivery of the University’s KPIs: income diversification and economic impact through highlighting and promoting the work of the Enterprise and Engagement department. The postholder will provide a clear gateway in for businesses to engage with the University whilst simultaneously raising awareness internally of the team’s remit.
Summary of key responsibilities include:
The planning, developing and delivery of agreed aspects of marketing and communication to both internal and external audiences
To write and design copy according to University branding and inclusivity guidelines appropriate for web, social media, email, brochures, newsletters and press releases
To work with the Knowledge Exchange and Engagement Manager on the development of a social media strategy; setting goals to increase brand awareness and engagement
To maintain the department’s social media channels by providing a continuous flow of new content and responding to feedback
Supporting the department’s managers by engaging and attracting new customers, and identifying cross-selling opportunities across our four B2B service clusters: Talent, Insight, Spaces and Collaborate
The successful candidate will have a strong background in marketing and communication (including design work and videography would be desirable); the ability and confidence to engage both internally and externally; and a proven track record of driving forward a target-based approach to achieve the required outcomes for the department and the University.
The role will be based in Canterbury (hybrid working possible) and will involve occasional travel throughout Kent and Medway.
