Background

We have three exciting new opportunities to join the recently reorganised Planning and Business Intelligence team at Canterbury Christ Church. This new dynamic team is key to delivering data analysis skills and expertise to inform decision making and improve performance. The team is dedicated to using data to help the University to develop sustainably and to realise its mission to provide supportive education for students from all backgrounds. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the future of the team and wider university reporting services.

The Roles

Business Intelligence Analysts support the development and maintenance of strategic reporting at the University. This includes liaising with staff to understand their reporting needs, preparing interactive data reports and dashboards (using Power BI and underlying student databases).

Student Experience and Insights Analysts provide specialist research and analysis to help improve the University’s academic delivery and its student support services. This includes bespoke analysis and insights from a wide range of student access, participation and success data as well as supporting our nationally benchmarked student experience surveys.

The Person

You will normally be educated to a degree level in a relevant numerate discipline or have equivalent experience in an area relevant to computing or social science.

You should have high level Microsoft Excel skills and either practical experience of querying relational databases or of conducting surveys or social research projects. Applications from recent graduates with a desire to develop their practical skills and experience over time will also be considered. We are looking for people with an interest in working with others to extract meaning and insight from complex data.

Ideally, you will also have some experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Data visualisation/dashboard tools (such as Power BI, Qlik or Tableau).
- Student records and student databases in a further or higher education context.
- Statistical analysis, modelling, or forecasting (SPSS/R).
- designing and conducting quantitative social surveys.
- conducting mixed method project or programme evaluations.
- preparing and presenting clear and insightful written reports to non-technical audiences

You will also have excellent interpersonal skills, a positive service ethos and work well both in a team and independently.
