We are currently looking for a Refugee Resettlement Adviser to join our team on a Fixed-Term contract to cover Maternity leave until October 2023. There will be a potential for the role to be extended or made permanent.

​The Role

To work as part of the Migrant Help Refugee Resettlement Services to provide a specialist advice service and integration support to Refugees resettling in East Kent. The role is based in our Dover office with Travel in the East Kent region. This includes the provision of support and guidance with the completion of any relevant support applications. There is a requirement that the post-holder will meet the changing local business needs and will re-prioritise work as necessary to work closely with other members of the team, advisers, administrative assistants, interpreters and volunteers to achieve this aim.



Duties and Responsibilities

Provide specialist advice service to clients in Migrant Help's Refugee Resettlement Services, informing and advising on options and resources available to each individual case.

Provide support to vulnerable clients, liaising with multiple services in various locations these often include: collect from airport on arrival, integrate into new home, and provide integration support.

Manage case load-offering appropriate individual support to clients with the aim of assisting them to live independently.

Conduct regular pre-arranged meetings with clients and complete monthly integration plans.

Assist clients to make applications or provide referrals to appropriate services such as Job Centre Plus, Health and Social Services

Giving advice on immigration related matters within the scope of the relevant OISC accreditation

Provide guidance to clients regarding ESOL lessons and encourage attendance

Participate in related activities with partners and agencies e.g workshops, community meetings and visits with the aim of extending client network for the purposes of full integration

Assist in arranging social activities and events

This service incorporates an “Out of hours” service. The post-holder will need to fulfil rostered duties as may be required of the service

Occasionally training or meetings are organised outside of normal working hours. The post-holder will be expected to attend whenever reasonably practicable

- Suitable candidate must be OISC registered or have the willingness to work towards OISC qualification. ​

Be able to provide documents to show their right to work in the UK i.e. valid passport or other right to work documents such as work visa, settled status document, certificate of registration, naturalization as a British citizen, Biometric Residence Permit etc.
Provide full employment history for the previous 3 years and/or suitable documentation to cover any gaps in employment
