Social Sciences (Sociology and Criminology) Teacher – Ashford
Main Pay scale up to M6 – Full-time – September 2022
Supply Desk is currently recruiting for a Social Sciences Teacher with any specialism for a full-time role in September. This role is on a temp-to-perm basis and shortlisting for this positon is happening now, with interviews happening at the earliest convenience for the right candidate.
The School
This is an Outstanding school in the centre of Maidstone, easily accessible by road and public transport. The expectations for their students’ behaviour for learning is second-to-none. They consistently speak of the importance of ‘scholarly behaviour’. This means that they aim for students to leave as cultured young adults, with a love for all that is beautiful, globally and historically. They aim to foster a love for learning and academic rigour, which will be maintained for the whole of their lives. Their curriculum is balanced, relevant, strongly academic and fosters curiosity and creativity.
Visitors consistently comment on how respectful and well-mannered the students are. This is because they have a strong family ethos, with outstanding pastoral care, which places the dignity of each young learner at the heart of everything that they do. Students understand that education is about more than academic qualifications, as important as these are. It is also about educating the whole child. They teach their children to use their education and academic qualifications to serve the common good, and to go out and improve the world when they leave as young adults, at the age of eighteen.
In 2021 they were graded as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted under the new inspection framework. The following month they were graded as ‘Outstanding’ when the school was inspected by the Education Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Southwark.
