QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state of the art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems including the world leading Banshee target. QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

We are currently seeking to recruit a temporary Electronics Wire Technician who would be responsible for carrying out production activities including; wiring harnesses, looms, cable assemblies, PCB’s, batteries and various electro-mechanical assemblies.


The role would include:

To populate Printed Circuit Boards (PCB’s), through-hole and surface mounted component soldering
Wiring of complex harnesses, looms and cables
To assemble electro-mechanical assemblies
The use of basic hand tools including crimp tools
Quality inspection checks on assemblies.


Required skills:

To demonstrate knowledge of Production process to a high standard
Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Good communication skills.


It would be desirable to have:

Knowledge / a certificate in IPC-610, IPC-620
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Experience of continuous improvement tools e.g. Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma and SOP’s
Experience of working on prototyping / pre-production products
ESD awareness.
