Operations Manager
Paddock Wood, Kent
Full-time, permanent Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm

We are working in collaboration with an established supply chain specialist of agricultural products across the globe, who due to high attrition have a rare opportunity to hire an experienced supply chain and logistics professional to manage the day-to-day operations of this growing business.

This role will be operating across 7 different small companies internationally that supply a wide range of agricultural products to their customers across the globe.

Any agricultural experience will be a bonus; however regardless of the products, national and international shipping requirements are very similar, therefore an excellent understanding of shipping is the most important. To do the job well, you will need to understand the complexities of incoterms, customs, import and export requirements with a good understanding of freight movement and day to day requirements of a trading company with a wide range of movement types. This role will suit someone who is able to make decisions, supervise others, with good attention to detail, strong customer service, and can take full responsibility for the efficient running of the daily processes. Someone able to see ways in which things can be improved can see how to do things to prevent problems from arising.

The Operations Manager will take on all the existing day to day operations, with the assistance of the office-based processing team. Daily operations will include:

- Processing sales orders and purchase orders, from receipt of a customer orders through to invoicing completed shipments
- Dealing directly with customers, product suppliers and service suppliers such as freight companies
- Negotiating best pricing for all freight
- Implementing any changes required to achieve minimum freight cost
- Arranging shipments of goods to fulfil orders, ranging from small parcels to multiple FCL
- Making full use of the ERP system, ensuring good maintenance of data, and assisting with ERP development
- Applying pricelists and other data to the ERP system to ensure accurate processing of orders
- Setting up Office Procedures/Processes for all activities and ensuring they are followed
- Maintain Quality Control certification
- Oversee all stockholding in your own and 3rd party warehouses
- Establishing stock keeping records within ERP and re-stocking processes to maintain stock levels
- Oversee and organise all packaging
- Maintain all the correct insurances
- Be involved with the day to day aspects of adding new business, such as assisting with sourcing new products or packing materials
- Excellent IT abilities
- Managing a small team
