Medway Council are in need of an Interim Principal Economic Development Officer to drive forward and implement the Council's Economic Development Action Plan and the COVID-19 Recovery Economy and Infrastructure Action Plan, in turn supporting Medway 2035 and the Corporate Plan.
You will be responsible for ;leading the development, mobilisation and delivery of key strategic economic development projects within the £9.5m Future High Streets Fund (FHSF) programme in Chatham town centre, including the Innovation Hub in Chatham, providing well-evidenced advice, strategic direction and guidance regarding workspace configuration and priority sectors and audiences and cultivating productive stakeholder relationships to accommodate business needs, demand, maximise opportunities and address barriers to growth in order to drive take-up of workspace provision
Additional responsibilities include:
* Secure business and investor buy-in and developing business support initiatives to maximise the potential of the FHSF capital investment and stimulate growth, job creation and local economic development. Identify and develop opportunities for collaborative partnership ventures where appropriate
* Effective programme, project and budget management for ED workstreams and projects including report writing, performance and budgets monitoring.
Essential Experience:
* Significant experience delivering economic development, business support services and programmes.
* Extensive knowledge of and understanding of the following:
* business support and workspace development;
* project management;
* economic development and associated funding;
* IV) Inward investment/after care.
* Proven experience in leading, developing, directing and managing projects and partners/teams to successfully achieve outcomes.
