Closing Date: 26th January 2022

Interview Date: 3rd February 2022

Hourly Rate: £9.50 per hour

Contract Type: Annualised contract

Hours: Variable – average of 18 hours a week (3 days)

Location: Sevenoaks Visitor Centre, Kent

Globally and nationally wildlife is in steep decline. We appear to be reaching critical tipping points around the loss of biodiversity as well as around climate change, both being interlinked. Human society cannot prosper without wildlife and healthy ecosystems.

Kent’s wildlife needs to be restored to much higher levels. We can no longer allow common things to become rare. We can only do this by restoring large-scale habitat from degraded land. Doing this will contribute to solving global problems. But we won’t be able to do this unless we publicly aspire to a higher level of impact and show that we can deliver this.

As the Visitor Centre & Events Assistant you will be responsible for the retail and catering in our visitor centres. Welcoming visitors and providing exemplary customer service will be an integral part of this role, along with the provision of light refreshments and managing the retail outlet.

You will be responsible for opening and closing the centre, operating the till, working with volunteers, daily cleaning and cashing up at the end of the day. You will work closely with the Visitor Centre Area Manager to ensure the centre is compliant to health and safety regulations.

This is a great opportunity to be a part of a flexible dynamic team. You will be able to develop new skills, learn about our wonderful wildlife and gain experience working with volunteers. We are looking for assistants who are enthusiastic and keen to get involved with the Trust’s future.

Centre opening will be determined by the Trust’s confidence to ensure the health and safety of staff, volunteers and visitors during Covid.
