Do you have experience of working in a technical support role and the kind of interpersonal skills that make you approachable and able to build good working relationships with others? If so, this IT Technician role within the Division of Arts and Humanities could be a great opportunity for you to develop your career within a supportive technical team at the University of Kent.

The role will see you providing comprehensive and specialised support to staff and students, working with a degree of autonomy to provide technical advice, solve complex problems and ensure facilities and equipment are kept operational. Besides your technical skills and experience, you will have good verbal and written communication skills and be adept at organising and prioritising a wide ranging workload.

As IT Technician you will:

use a well-developed working technical knowledge to help solve problems independently, maintaining the working environment and raising any complex issues with more senior staff
liaise with staff, students and visitors, as well as dealing with routine external service providers to ensure facilities and equipment are kept operational
operate technical equipment, assisting staff and students, and undertake routine maintenance tasks, fault finding and basic repairs
understand, promote and apply relevant COSHH/risk assessments and departmental health and safety protocols
To be successful in this role you will have:

proven experience of working in a technical support role
experience of using complex technical equipment
excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with an ability to assess non-routine problems and implement solutions within own expertise
the ability to work under own initiative but also collaboratively within teams
