Interpersonnel UK Ltd is a Recruitment Business Partner that is currently supporting a Kent based organisation in their search for a strong Safety Advisor candidate.

The purpose of the Safety Advisor role is to assist in delivering beyond compliance performance on all safety legislation and to provide timely advice and solutions on safety issues associated with operations and developments with a particular focus on construction. The main emphasis of this post is to provide a high standard of safety performance enabling the organisation to promote their safety achievements.

Job details

• To act as a source of safety advice in relation to all site activities.
• This post will have a specific focus on construction, engineering and maintenance work but can include aspects of fire, dangerous goods, radiological protection etc.
• To act as an ambassador for the organisation’s safety culture and work with colleagues to deliver cultural change.
• To assist in the development and improvement of the safety management system in line with OHSAS 18001 and ISO45001 when applicable.
• To develop safety procedures and guidance.
• To advise on the safety aspects of machinery and work equipment relating to selection, commission, operation and disposal.
• To prepare reports and documentation as deemed necessary.
• To investigate accidents and incidents as required.
• To carry out a wide variety of practical duties in relation to health and safety matters falling within the remit of a safety advisor.
• To attend all such internal and external meetings, conferences and training courses as may be required by management.
• To provide a proactive, efficient and professional safety advisory service.
• To analyse safety legislation and update managers of any changes which are relevant to their responsibilities and activities in order to ensure compliance with statutory safety requirements and best practice.
• To liaise with external enforcement bodies, safety authorities, port users, stakeholders and staff on health and safety issues where required
• To undertake inspections and audits of the Board and its partners, tenants and contractors to provide assurance on the safety management system and safety risks.
• To develop and deliver safety training and engagement initiatives that improves safety performance
• To be responsible for identifying hazardous goods in any incident and taking all steps that may be necessary to ensure the safety of the organisation, customers and staff.
• To maintain and participate in a duty rota system to discharge the listed duties after normal working hours

Essential Qualifications required
1. NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ L5 equivalent in Safety Management
2. Grad IOSH and working towards CMIOSH
3. Auditing
