Job Role: Claims Adjuster - City based with WFH opportunities



Salary range: to £70,000 pa



Purpose of role



Reporting to the Department Claims Manager provide full claims handling activities in respect of all claims emanating from the Liability Underwriting portfolio. This book of business includes UK employers liability, UK, International and US public liability and products liability, UK and International clinic trials



Main areas of responsibility

* Review and analysis of claims when first presented to the Syndicate and/or Insurance Company
* Consider coverage for claim and take decision on coverage including referral to senior management where appropriate
* Where coverage, consider all aspects of the claim including liability and likely quantum, appoint adjusters, lawyers or other service providers from approved panel as appropriate and report internally on new claim where appropriate
* Set appropriate reserve at the earliest possible juncture
* Manage claim through its life to settlement on most favourable terms or, where appropriate, trial or other formal dispute resolution process
* Keep senior management abreast of all development on significant claims and refer all claims in accordance with referral criteria
* Act as referral point for junior team members

* Has strong organisational and time management skills
* Extensive knowledge of wordings and key claims issues likely to arise in this business segment
* A team player who is able to work in a co-operative environment, and engages effectively with others
* Has strong IT skills
* Communicates well both verbally and written



Technical expertise

* Possesses good analytical skills
* Has an understanding of financial issues and the key performance indicators that drive the business plan and determine the organisation's success.
* Understands the legal, financial and regulatory issues which affect the line of business.
* Has the ability to negotiate to a mutually successful outcome



Education and experience

* A Level/ Graduate educational level
* Five or more years of liability claims handling experience within a Lloyd's environment
* US claims handling capabilities
* Working towards or completed CII qualifications.
