Salary: £28,000-£29,300

Contract: 37.5 hrs per week, Monday-Friday

Location: Office-based

Mental Health Resource is an award-winning, independent, local charity working to improve mental wellbeing in our communities through the provision of safe spaces and person-centred mental health support.

Our Hub project provides a wide range of wellbeing activities, peer support groups and 1-1 sessions throughout the week from our base in Tunbridge Wells and out-of-hours support to people at weekends. We enable clients to identify their goals and to support them in their recovery, delivering activities to enhance wellbeing and providing tools and strategies to help them to manage their mental health.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to lead and manage our Hub project. The successful candidate will have solid experience managing a staff team and have substantial experience of delivering mental health support to a wide range of people including those with enduring and complex mental health conditions. A qualification in a relevant field or in management will be helpful.

You will be a collaborative manager, working effectively with clients, colleagues and external stakeholders and will be passionate about ensuring that client voice is at the centre of all we do. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and have excellent interpersonal skills.

JOB SUMMARY

Provide strong and effective leadership and management to the team, developing a positive team culture and delivering high quality mental health support to ensure we deliver the best services for our clients.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Plan and ensure delivery of a wide range of wellbeing activities, that are accessible and responsive to the diverse mental health needs of people in our community

· Develop services and activities in accordance with the organisational strategy and funding requirements and in collaboration with clients, staff and other managers

· Contribute towards and support the development and delivery of organisational plans

· Be accountable and responsible for services achieving contractual targets and KPIs

· Provide effective management of the Hub staff and volunteers, carrying out regular supervision, clinical supervision and appraisals with all direct reports and managing staff absence including holiday and sickness

· Work collaboratively and develop positive and effective working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders, sharing knowledge and expertise

· Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with client groups and all appropriate and relevant local partners to develop and enhance the delivery of activities and services

· Attend meetings with funders, reporting on service performance

· Ensure the Hub has appropriate policies and procedures in place and to ensure these are implemented

· Manage risks in relation to safeguarding, data protection and health and safety, escalating as appropriate

· Work in collaboration with the Charity Manager and Fundraising Manager to contribute to the development of bids and tenders in order to retain services, and provide operational leadership when procuring new ones which support and enhance service delivery

· Provide leadership and guidance in dealing with complex issues in accordance with legislation, good practice, and the charity’s policies, taking a mentoring and coaching approach to support the development of the team’s confidence and skills

· Prepare reports for and attend all relevant meetings

· Demonstrate a willingness to participate in shaping the future of the organisation by taking on responsibilities and projects in addition to core workload

· Working with the Office Manager and caretaker, ensure that the premises are tidy, clean and well-maintained

Clients

· Facilitate groups and provide 1-1 sessions, dealing sensitively and flexibly with the range of complex, challenging and changing needs of clients

· Ensure all potential clients are made welcome and are assessed to identify their goals for their recovery and how the Hub activities can support them

· Ensure client needs are identified and that clients are signposted to all appropriate internal and external sources of help and support

· Ensure client involvement in service planning and delivery, by making co-production a standard part of service design and delivery

· In consultation with other Hub workers to make an assessment of risk and take appropriate action where necessary in line with guidelines and procedures

· Provide support to individuals and groups, to enable them to make choices in all aspects of their lives.

Volunteers

· Recruit volunteers as required and in line with the volunteer recruitment policy, liaising with colleagues regarding promotion, references, DBS etc

· Ensure that all volunteers have role descriptions

· Act as main contact for all Hub volunteers

· Induct new volunteers into the organisation, ensuring they know of all relevant policies and procedures

· Provide support, guidance and recognition to volunteers

· Ensure volunteers receive appropriate information relevant to their training requirements

Administration

· Participate with other managers and staff in developing systems, policies and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of services

· Maintain efficient administrative systems, including client records and a database that comply with the data protection policy

· Monitor the use of activities by recording all relevant information and collating information for monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance purposes

· Devise and revise the Hub’s programme of activities ensuring all key colleagues are kept up-to-date and informed about Hub activities

· Promote the Hub, developing promotional material and ensuring the activities on the website are accurate

· Organise and maintain an efficient library of reference material for all staff, volunteers, clients and visitors use.

· Ensure staff timesheets and expenses are submitted on time for monthly payroll processing

· Manage a petty cash float and a small budget

Other Related Duties

· Adhere to and keep up-to-date with organisational policies, guidelines and procedures and best practice requirements

· Represent Mental Health Resource in a knowledgeable and professional manner at all times

· Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times

· Participate in regular supervision, team meetings and other meetings as required

· Identify own training and development needs in conjunction with your line manager and participate in training opportunities as directed

· Undertake any such additional duties as necessary in relation to the role or as requested by the Charity Manager
