We are currently looking to recruit a Personal Support Assistant – Job Aide on a part time basis for 6 months, with the opportunity to extend if the role requires.

This post provides individual dedicated support for a staff member who has a neurodiverse condition defined as a disability under the Equality Act 2010. The post involves a high level of professional administrative support. The post is funded through Access to Work, a government grant scheme that supports disabled people in work. Funding is reviewed every 6 months.

The successful candidate will work closely with the staff member to identify and understand their specific support needs, drawing on their knowledge and experience of professional administrative systems and processes to develop a flexible and responsive package of support that also makes use of assisted technology to help the staff member undertake their academic duties. In order to provide support they should also seek out and draw on the advice from other parts of the University (HR, Occupational Health, Staff Disability Network, EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity), IT services) as well as relevant external agencies or individuals (neurodiversity organisations and the staff member’s Job Coach, for example to provide such required support).

As Personal Support Assistant – Job Aide you will:

Provide high level Personal Assistant/administrative support
Manage the staff members diary
Act as first point of contact for queries from a broad range of stakeholders on behalf of the staff member, ensuring a high level of care, tact and confidentiality
Take the lead in the planning, organisation and management of events that are within the remit of the staff member.

To be successful in this role you will have/be:

Educated to A Level Standard or equivalent experience
Proven experience of working in a secretarial/PA or clerical role with first-class communication, both verbal and written and decision making skills
Experience of using Microsoft packages including Excel spreadsheets and databases on a regular basis
