Job Title: General Manager for Production and Manufacturing
Location: Ashford, Kent
Salary Range: £60,000 -70,000 per annum
A leading engineering manufacturing company based in Kent, provided specialised products and services, to a diverse range of specifiers across the UK and Worldwide. One of very few companies in the region that were able to with-stand the effects of the recent pandemic and has grown steadily over the last 18 months and are now looking to enhance their manufacturing and production. As a result, they are now seeking a General Manager with Steel/Metal Door Industry experience to take sole responsibility for both departments
This is a newly created position, therefore to be considered, you will need to be qualified and experienced individual who has career stability and proven ability to implement change management and efficiencies, understand manual to mechanical transition, and be fully conversant in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/ Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and how Value Analysis (VA) and Value Engineering (VE) initiatives.
As the General Manager you will ideally have the following attributes:
• Successful track record of leading people & motivating people in a Manufacturing and Production environments
• Lean manufacturing/ Lean six sigma experience hugely beneficial
• Engineering, Operations and Process Implementation experience
• Strong internal and external management skills
• A proactive, self-starter who is consultative and adaptable
• Confident in understanding, implementing, and managing ERP/MRP practices
Your role will involve:
• Reporting directly to the Operational Director & Group Managing Director
• Planning and organising the overall performance of manufacturing and production operations, including safety, quality, delivery, and cost to meet the agreed targets.
• Manages capacity planning to facilitate staff scheduling and material requirements needed to meet production and financial objectives.
• Provide daily metrics indicating likely flash points and providing recovery plan to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Streamline manufacturing and production processes and plan manpower to ensure that utilisation of machinery and equipment runs consistently
• Responsible for ensuring that all Standard Operating Procedures are always adhered to.
• Implement lean manufacturing, and other appropriate methods, to drive on-time delivery, shortened lead times, and improved quality.
• Responsible for continually evaluating, and the implementation of systems and machinery to best cost-effective practices and methods of working within the departments to ensure improvements in productivity.
• Ensures the coaching and development of manufacturing and production employees to include training procedures for all operations/personnel, including maintenance of the skills and capabilities matrix.
