Are you an experienced administrator with a keen eye for detail? Do you enjoy variety in your work and using your ingenuity to solve problems and make improvements to administrative systems and processes? If so, this exciting opportunity of a full time, ongoing role within the University’s Information Services (IS) Department could be the role for you.

We are seeking a Licensing and Policy Administrator to provide a responsive and cost effective software purchasing and asset management service to the University, so that software can be made available to staff and students according to agreed standards.

You will also maintain Information Services’ portfolio of strategies, policies, regulations and guidance that are held on a database, so that University staff and students are aware of best practice, legal obligations and acceptable behaviours.

In this interesting and varied role you will have the opportunity to play a key role in providing input into strategic decisions. We are therefore seeking someone who is committed to their own personal development through both formal and informal learning opportunities.

As a Licensing and Policy Administrator you will:


  • administer all requests for software from within IS and throughout the University to ensure that software is provided in a timely manner and delivers value for money

  • manage relationships with software suppliers to ensure that the University receives a good level of service

  • manage the coordination of software asset management, tracking software budgets and providing advice to colleagues so that the University purchases the correct software and is able to demonstrate this in the event of audit

  • Oversee the process for information requests associated with IS’s policy and regulatory obligations so that the University is able to comply with relevant legislation.



To succeed in this role you will:

  • be educated to GCSE English or Maths or equivalent

  • have substantial experience of working in an administrative role, ideally within the education sector

  • have excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft 365 packages (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint)

  • have experience in providing responses to requests for advice and relevant information

  • have the ability to suggest improvements to existing ways of working.
