SUPPORT WORKER / WAKING NIGHTS SUPPORT WORKER, Bearsted, Kent

We have two established residential services in Bearsted, near Maidstone in Kent that support up to 16 adults across both sites with learning disabilities, mental health and physical disabilities.
Staff support our service users with varying degrees of sensory impairments, also those who communicate using visual prompts. Staff are trained in the use of other personal support needs such as PEG feeding, and support people with epilepsy or diabetes, additional ongoing training is available to adapt to changes in requirement.
Bearsted is a traditional pretty English village featuring quaint cottages, several village pubs, restaurants and a large village green which plays host to a variety of different social and sporting events.
35 hours per week
£9.00 per hour
£500 Welcome Bonus (*terms apply)

Valid for this service and position only
Paid after successful completion of probation period (6 months) or, if part time or bank, work the equivalent of 975 hours.
Payments are subject to taxable deductions
The welcome bonus can be withdrawn at any time and without notice.

Main duties and responsibilities:
To participate in the day to day implementation of individual support plans and activities within a challenging environment.
To maintain effective communication and liaison with service users, families and others whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality.
To support service users with the preparation of Meals, Laundry duties, cleaning and social events.
To maintain accurate notes and records as and when required.
To work as part of a team to provide high quality care.
Personal Characteristics:
Diploma (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care or be willing to work towards one.
Experience in supporting adults with challenging behaviour, physical disabilities, learning disabilities and/or mental health issues.
The ability to keep calm under pressure.
The confidence to work alone or as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills
The passion to work with vulnerable adults
The desire and commitment to achieve high standards of safeguarding.
