Large care organisation are looking for residential childcare workers to cover shifts in Ramsgate

Residential Child Care Worker - Children's Home
Ramsgate
Temporary - adhoc/bank shift cover to start ASAP
£10.09+ per hour inclusive of holiday


Company/Organisation:
This large National care company have been operating for over 14 years and have settings up and down the country. They offer residential care and education for children and young people aged 8-17. The Organisation is run by highly experienced, qualified and trained management; it has consistently received positive CQC and Ofsted results.
They are currently looking for an experienced children's support worker to assist with ongoing adhoc shift cover due to the busy annual leave summer season in their family style home in the Ramsgate area.

Role:
Starting ASAP you will join a small team of experienced and trained staff who support and care for children in a residential setting, due to past trauma children will display extreme challenging behaviour including anger and verbal abuse. The setting currently houses three teenage boys a number of which are approaching leaving care age. Shifts currently required are from 10am-10pm.
Duties include:

* Provide primary basic care and a nurturing, caring and consistent environment/atmosphere.
* Contribute to the normal development of the children to enable them to reach their fullest potential by providing a stimulating and varied lifestyle.
* Work with firm and consistent boundaries in order to create safety and containment for the children.
* Work alongside the child to help develop a true sense of identity and feel of self worth.
* Be sensitive to the needs of individual children, taking account of race, culture, language and religion; and be aware of the child's rights and to work in an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive manner.
* Talk and listen to children, and to observe their behaviour.
* Liaise, where necessary, with other professionals, i.e. schools, social services etc.
* Work alongside therapists to enable effective integration of care and therapy.
* Assist in preparation for reviews, meetings and attend when required

Skills/Experience required:

* Must have previously worked with children ideally in a residential care setting (minimum 6 months experience within the last two years).
* It is desirable that you hold and NVQ level 3 in childcare or child related social care
* Experience with providing support and care to children who have suffered trauma
* Availability to be flexible for shifts and to be available for long day shifts
* Experience in dealing with children with challenging behaviour.
* The sensitivity required to provide a trusting and stimulating environment along with being passionate about supporting young people.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a good team player
* A genuine desire to make a real difference in children's lives
* You will undergo rigorous background checks and be subject to a DBS - ideally you will already be signed up to the DBS update service.
