IT Field Engineer
Location: London N5
Salary: £35k - £40k

This is an opportunity to join a London based MSP, IT support provider and network specialist company which manages the networks, servers, desktops, and cloud IT for a number of UK SMEs.
The successful candidate will work in a modern, open plan office alongside other team members - there is an expectation of building strong and beneficial relationships with colleagues and clients.

As a member of the support team, the onsite engineer is considered a desktop support expert, responsible for computer hardware, software (location specific or global) and peripherals. Onsite Support is the second point of escalation for the resolution of desktop, laptop and server related incidents, service requests and connectivity issues.

You are fully supported by your Service Desk Manager, your Team Leader and of course, your colleagues in every aspect of your work with the client.
You will be assigned various tickets throughout the day, addressing each one sympathetically, pragmatically and above all, with a strong sense of customer service - leaving each ticket not only resolved, but with a smile on the user’s face - a job well done.

This is a role where you will have direct influence on people’s day-to-day working life. With nothing more frustrating than a computer or a printer not working, you will be the very person that makes things happen, working directly with the users in a highly rewarding way.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
· Travel to customer sites (Transport for London)
· Troubleshoot and resolves incidents/service requests as per service desk procedures and allocated timelines
· Log relevant incident/service request details per service desk procedures
· Coordinate with Service Desk Manager for hardware repairs
· Participate in various project works: Network installations, server migrations, office moves, etc.
· Create/maintain documentation
· Estimate time allocation: 70% onsite visits, 20% service desk, 10% documentation and training

What we are looking for:
· Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
· A friendly, engaging, and professional demeanour as a primary "face"
· Willing to travel around London and the surrounding area to provide second-line investigation and diagnosis while onsite at the customer’s office
· Confidence in addressing break/fix issues - typically supporting PCs, Laptops, Servers and network devices such as routers and switches.
· Good Windows system administration and Microsoft 365 technologies
· Good networking experience - basic routers and switches configuration, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, Wi-Fi
· Any Apple OSX and Mac experience would be desirable, but certainly not essential

Qualifications:
· Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other relevant field
· Minimum work experience: 2-5 years of experience in service desk or/and field engineer role
· Industry recognised accreditations are highly desirable - CCNA, MCP/MCSA, CompTIA
