Support Worker - Adult Physical Disabilities
Staplehurst - near Maidstone
Temporary to Permanent
Full Time and Part Time available
£10.09 per hour inclusive of holiday pay


Company/Organisation:
Established over 70 years ago this fantastic charity offers a wide range of care services for disabled individuals. They boast a fantastic culture built around their service users offering tailored care packages to allow disabled people to feel valued and safe and make choices about how they live.
They are currently looking for a number of Support Workers on a temporary to permanent basis to work within one of their residential settings in Staplehurst near Maidstone.

Role:
You will join a team supporting 21 residents aged 20-60 with varied physical disabilities including brain injury, MS, stroke recovery with some individuals being non-verbal and the majority of residents wheelchair users.
This is a fast pace role, perfect for those who like to keep busy. In this demanding role you will be on the go all day assisting residents with daily life including personal care, personal development, rehabilitation and recovery.

Shifts:
AM shifts: 7am-2pm
PM shifts: 2pm-9pm
There are both full time (37 hours per week) and part time vacancies available.

Skills/Experience required:

* A minimum of 6 months experience within a similar care setting in the last 2 years
* Experience and willingness to provide personal care when required (helping to wash, toilet, dress and assisting with meals).
* Experience in administering medication, preparing meals and planning and partaking in activities
* Experience with providing support and care to adults with learning disabilities.
* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 are desirable but not vital - you will be given the opportunity to gain these during permanent employment.
* The sensitivity required to provide a trusting and stimulating environment along with being passionate about supporting people.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a good team player
* A genuine desire to make a real difference in people's lives
* You will be positive and willing to create and follow a personalised service to every individual that you support.
* Be available to support in whatever capacity is required by an individual to nurture their path to independence.
