A vacancy has arisen for a Transport Supervisor based at our Darenth location. This is an exciting opportunity for a career minded individual who enjoys the challenge of working in a fast pace environment, working 4 on 4 off shift pattern 06:00 – 18:00.
The Role
• Reporting to the Transport Manager
• To ensure Health & Safety, Environmental and Legal Compliance procedures are followed.
• The role involves operating a fleet of vehicles from 3 locations over 7 days and 6 nights per week.
• Sourcing additional loads from third parties.
• Managing the activities and resources to achieve financial, operational and customer service objectives.
• To assist in the planning and management of staffing, to ensure optimum level of staffing is being used within budget, also ensuring the oncoming shift has sufficient staffing levels.
• To ensure equipment is operational and relevant checks are made and maintained. When problems arise, contacting the relevant contractors to resolve the issue.
• To assist in the management productivity to achieve KPIs, changing priorities where necessary and be proactive in looking for continuous improvements.
• To ensure company policies are adhered to and administration functions completed within deadlines and maintain accurate records in line with customer/company requirements.
• To promote harmonious and effective working relationships both internally and externally, ensuring excellent customer service through a combination of communication team work, motivation and leadership.
The Person
• Customer focused.
• Proven experience within a fast pace logistics environment
• Ability to communicate at all levels.
• Numerate and literate.
• Proactive decision maker and an organised/effective planner.
• Ability to effectively handle conflict situations
• Be able to build network of allies and subcontractors
• Have a can-do attitude
• Be able to be remain calm when working under pressure
• PC and TMS systems literate
• Own transport required owing to location.
The role is based mainly in Darenth, on occasions you may be required to work in Paddock Wood.
