About the role: The Hundred of Hoo Nursery and Afterschool Club have a rare opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to join their friendly and collaborative team in the role of Early Years Educator. Working 22.5 hours per week, this is an ideal role for those of you seeking a part-time position. We are incredibly proud of our achievements and the environment we offer the children in our care, and our successful candidate will be joining a highly experienced, friendly and encouraging team who will welcome you with open arms!

Our nursery is open throughout the year with three sets closure periods; 1 week at Christmas and 2 weeks during the middle of the summer break. Our successful candidate must have a relevant Level 3 childcare qualification and the hourly rate is £9.34. The basis of this role is fixed term until August 2022.

Our nursery is based in the grounds of The Hundred of Hoo Academy, a highly successful all-through academy that is easily accessible from Strood, Rochester, Hoo and surrounding areas. We're a nursery like no other and here are just some of the benefits you will receive when working for us;

A highly skilled nursery management team who have been with the nursery for over 20 years, utilising their experience in the best way possible
We have fantastic facilities, particularly our outdoor spaces which our children thoroughly enjoy making use of
Very strong relationships with both the primary and secondary school sites, allowing us to use their facilities and also offer interaction with older students
A large pupil intake highlighting our popularity in the local area
Opportunities to progress and gain additional qualifications
Fantastic support and excellent relationships with the parents of our pupils
Working with our academy: The Hundred of Hoo Academy is a unique all through academy with pupils from Reception up to Sixth Form, and whilst this role supports the entire academy, it is most likely the successful candidate will work with pupils aged 11-16 on a daily basis. In September 2011, The Hundred of Hoo converted to academy status. Just one year later, Ofsted judged the academy as “good with outstanding features” recognising the relentless focus and ambition that we have. In September 2015 the academy welcomed its first Reception class thereby extending its age range to 4-year-old children. This exciting provision demonstrates the academy’s sense of ambition to serve the community where pupils’ academic journey represents a cradle to university principle.

We are delighted to announce that following a recent Ofsted inspection in July 2018 the academy has been judged 'Good' with 'Outstanding' features in terms of our early years provision and effectiveness of leadership and management.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2020, our Trust will comprise 28 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 15 primaries and 2 special) educating over 16,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. We also have one further secondary academy in the development phase, due to open in September 2021. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school. Click here to view our future plans in our Vision 2025 document.
As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust. This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together. You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

Diversity at our core: As a Trust, we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.
The academy is committed to safeguarding children and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Our commitment to safeguarding is underpinned by robust processes and checks which are in place across the Trust.

Recruitment and hiring during COVID-19: Despite the challenges we face, recruitment and hiring will continue for all Leigh Academies Trust vacancies with as little disruption as possible over the coming weeks and months. This is for all senior, teaching and support staff appointments. Applications will still be reviewed and interviews conducted in a timely manner, although interview activities will vary. If you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch with the LAT Talent Team - talent@latrust.org.uk.
Based on the quality and quantity of applications received, Leigh Academies Trust reserves the right to close this vacancy sooner than the specified closing date. Applicants will be notified of this where possible. Therefore, early applications are encouraged.
