Estate Manager, Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust
Owned and operated by Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, The Historic Dockyard Chatham presents unrivalled status as the most complete and best-preserved dockyard of the age of sail anywhere in the world. It immerses its community of residents, tenants and visitors in a mighty feat of preservation, innovation, education and heritage.
At The Trust we set the benchmark in the sympathetic preservation and use of the Historic Dockyard; its buildings (including 47 Scheduled Ancient Monuments); ships; and collections through diverse re-use and we are seeking an experienced Estate Manager to take responsibility for the range of property related activity within our unique heritage environment.
This strategically important new role will focus on the management and advancement of our established commercial and residential tenant portfolio and will establish systems to improve the management of the estate. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the complex ecology of uses across the estate and be mindful of the important balance between them. They will have a willingness to work with teams in other departments to enhance and develop the functionality and effectiveness of our operations.
The role is likely to suit a property professional looking to develop a career in a demanding but rewarding role or a more experienced operator who is perhaps looking to work in a diverse but smaller scale environment. The role will report to the Director of Historic Environment and Buildings.
At the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust it is our ambition to create an inclusive culture which attracts all candidates and demonstrates our commitment to celebrate and promote diversity.
The Job Description and Application Form are available on the Trust’s website https://thedockyard.co.uk/our-charity/recruitment/ Applications should be made using the form provided but should be supported by a full CV and cover letter (maximum length, two sides A4) indicating why the applicant’s personal experience makes them the right person for the job.
The closing date for applications is 10am on 24th February 2021, with interviews being held on 5th March 2021.
