Job Title - Freight forwarding import clerk

Salary - Up to £28,000 (depending on experience)

Location - Ashford, Kent

Duration - Full Time, Permanent (8 Hour P/D)

Connect2Staff have a fantastic opportunity for a Freight forwarding import clerk to take on a full-time permanent position in Ashford.

Our client, a major Importing organisation is looking for someone to help, complete and manage day to day import entries for all sea, air and road freight shipments

Day to day job duties:

* Telephone/written communication with external organisations e.g. HMRC, Port Authorities, Shipping Lines, Hauliers, Suppliers etc
* Obtain necessary Bill of Ladings and correct Tariff Headings.
* Liaising with customers, partners, shipping lines and carriers
* Customs clearance, calculating excise duty
* Calculating Duty / VAT cost for each consignment.
* Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and customs procedures
* Planning and arranging deliveries
* Providing administration support to the logistics and commercial team
* Telephone queries, data input and general admin duties.

Essential Skills/Qualities Required:

* Previous experience within an Import Forwarding role, preferably including Customs experience.
* Knowledge of customs declarations ideally within a freight forwarding or logistics business.
* Previous experience within an Import Forwarding role, preferably including Customs experience.
* Confident in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
* Ability to work under pressure
* Excellent attention to detail
* Exemplary customer service skills with the ability to work flexible hours when require.
* Ability to learn and understand existing procedures
* The ability to work independently as well as within a team
* Able to work to deadlines and meet targets
* Driven and self-motivated
